Free PSA Test

The free PSA test is a blood test that measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) present in the free/unbound state in your blood. This protein is produced by the prostate glands below the kidneys and can be free or bound to other proteins. PSA plays a role in reproductive health by breaking down larger proteins in semen, reducing its thickness and aiding in sperm movement to improve fertility. Under normal conditions, there is a trace amount of this protein present in the blood.
