CA 15.3 Test

The Cancer Antigen (CA) (Breast Cancer Marker) test measures the level of CA 15-3 (Cancer Antigen 15-3) in the blood. It is a glycoprotein that is primarily used as a tumour marker to monitor patients with breast cancer, especially for assessing treatment response, detecting recurrence, and sometimes for early detection. However, it is not used for primary diagnosis due to its limited sensitivity and specificity. Individuals with advanced breast cancer who are advised to monitor the progression of the disease can consider scheduling a CA 15.4 (Breast Cancer Marker) test at home.
