What is the Urine RM?

A comprehensive urine assessment evaluating physical, chemical and microscopic parameters to provide supportive information about urinary tract health, infection-related findings, kidney function and other clinically relevant abnormalities.

Key parameters

What this package looks at, in one visit:

28 tests
Physical Examination
ColourProvides information about urine appearance; changes may occur with hydration, diet, medicines or certain health conditions.
TransparencyAssesses urine clarity; cloudy urine may occur due to cells, crystals, microorganisms or other substances.
Specific GravityIndicates urine concentration and provides information about the kidney's ability to concentrate urine.
Reaction (pH)Measures urine acidity or alkalinity, which can vary with diet, metabolism and some urinary conditions.
Chemical Examination
Urine GlucoseDetects glucose in urine and may provide information about elevated blood glucose or other conditions.
KetoneDetects ketones, which may increase during fasting, prolonged exercise, low-carbohydrate intake or uncontrolled diabetes.
ProteinsDetects protein in urine; persistent protein loss may require evaluation of kidney health.
Bile SaltTests for bile salts in urine, which may provide supportive information in selected liver or bile-flow conditions.
Bile PigmentDetects bile pigments and may provide information related to bilirubin metabolism and liver or biliary conditions.
BilirubinDetects bilirubin in urine and may be relevant to certain liver or bile-duct conditions.
UrobilinogenMeasures a breakdown product of bilirubin and can provide supportive information about liver and red-cell metabolism.
Leucocyte / Leukocyte EsteraseMay indicate the presence of white blood cells and can support assessment of urinary inflammation or infection.
BloodDetects blood or haemoglobin-related activity in urine and may require further evaluation depending on the finding.
NitriteMay indicate the presence of certain bacteria that convert nitrate to nitrite and can support assessment for bacterial urinary infection.
Microscopic Examination — Cells
Pus Cells (Normal)Measures white blood cells in urine; increased numbers may occur with urinary inflammation or infection.
Pus Cell (Clumps)Detects grouped white blood cells, which may be associated with significant urinary inflammation or infection.
Red Cells (Normal)Identifies red blood cells in urine.
Red Cells (Dysmorphic)Identifies abnormally shaped red blood cells; their pattern may provide additional information about the possible source of blood in urine.
Red Cells (Crenated)Identifies crenated or irregularly shrunken red blood cells, which may occur due to urine concentration or other factors.
Epithelial Cells (Squamous)Usually originate from the lower urinary or genital tract; increased numbers can sometimes indicate sample contamination.
Epithelial Cells (Non-Squamous)Includes other epithelial cells from the urinary tract and may provide additional information when interpreted microscopically.
Casts
Hyaline CastA type of urinary cast that can occasionally be seen in healthy individuals, especially after exercise or dehydration; significance depends on quantity and clinical context.
Granular CastContains granular material and may be associated with kidney tubular or other renal processes when present in significant amounts.
Urine Crystals
Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate CrystalsA common type of urine crystal that may be seen with certain urinary chemical conditions.
Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate CrystalsAnother form of calcium oxalate crystal that can occur in urine.
Triple Phosphate CrystalsAlso called struvite crystals; may occur particularly in alkaline urine and can be associated with certain urinary infections.
Uric Acid CrystalsMay occur in acidic urine and are influenced by uric acid concentration and urine chemistry.
Amorphous CrystalsFine, unstructured crystal material that may occur depending on urine pH and concentration.
