What is the CBC?
A comprehensive blood-cell assessment measuring red cells, white cells, platelets and related indices, with additional peripheral blood and parasite examination to support routine health evaluation and clinical assessment.
Key parameters
What this package looks at, in one visit:
Red Blood Cell & Haemoglobin Parameters
Haemoglobin (Hb)Measures the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells and helps assess overall haemoglobin status.
RBC CountMeasures the number of red blood cells in the blood.
Hematocrit (HCT)Indicates the proportion of blood made up of red blood cells.
MCVShows the average size of red blood cells.
MCHIndicates the average amount of haemoglobin present in each red blood cell.
MCHCIndicates the average concentration of haemoglobin within red blood cells.
RDWShows variation in the size of red blood cells.
RDW-SDProvides a quantitative measure of variation in red-cell size.
NRBCMeasures nucleated red blood cells; their presence in peripheral blood may require clinical interpretation.
White Blood Cell Parameters
Total WBC CountMeasures the overall number of white blood cells, which are involved in immune responses.
NeutrophilsA major type of white blood cell involved in the body's response to infections and inflammation.
LymphocytesWhite blood cells important for immune regulation and responses to infections.
MonocytesWhite blood cells involved in immune defence and removal of cellular debris.
EosinophilsWhite blood cells that may increase with allergic conditions and certain parasitic infections.
BasophilsWhite blood cells involved in certain allergic and inflammatory responses.
Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC)Measures the actual number of neutrophils in the blood.
Absolute Lymphocyte CountMeasures the actual number of lymphocytes in the blood.
Absolute Monocyte CountMeasures the actual number of monocytes in the blood.
Absolute Eosinophil CountMeasures the actual number of eosinophils and can provide additional information in allergic or parasitic conditions.
Absolute Basophil CountMeasures the actual number of basophils in the blood.
Platelet Parameters
Platelet CountMeasures the number of platelets, which play an important role in blood clot formation.
MPV (Mean Platelet Volume)Indicates the average size of platelets and can provide additional information about platelet production.
Blood Cell & Microscopic Review
RBC ImpressionProvides a laboratory review of red-cell appearance and characteristics under microscopy.
WBC ImpressionProvides a laboratory review of white-cell appearance and distribution.
Platelet ImpressionProvides a microscopic assessment of platelet appearance and adequacy.
Blood Parasite ExaminationExamines blood for evidence of blood parasites when clinically indicated.
Malaria-Related Parameters
MP VivaxExamination for malaria parasites associated with Plasmodium vivax.
